Hello everybody,
First of all, I wanted to thank Esther for his amazing book and method. I started Stretchsitting 1 week ago and my posture has improved more than in years of physical therapy work doing stretches and different exercises in the gym.
I have a question. When going about the 8 steps, I already started doing stretchsitting, stacksitting and stretchlying on my side.
How long do you recommend me to spend mastering this 3 exercises before jumping in to the next steps? Which steps should I start implementing next after mastering this 3 postures?
Cheers!

Hello,
My name is Kerri and I'm a Gokhale Method teacher. I'm glad to hear the method is already making a positive change for you! The book is laid out quite nicely and I recommend starting with chapter 1 and proceed from there. The first thing we focus on is getting length in the spine which stretchsitting and stretchlying on your back implements. When someone takes a course, often the time frame is a week in between learning new material. We really like to cultivate longer baseline length in the spine before we start to work on changing spinal shape which stacksitting does and stretchlying on the side. Less is more when making posture changes as it takes time to create new habits in the body. Keep in mind, we are trying to change years of poor posture habits that often stems from childhood. Listen to your body and if anything starts to hurt then back off and give your body a rest. There's a lot to learn from the book and videos. Still, in our experience, if you can take a course and work with a knowledgable teacher that can physically move your body into correct positioning, that really is ideal. Hope this helps!
All the Best,
Kerri
