What is the best way to push someone in a wheelchair? I am trying to hinge at the hip, but it’s still killing my back. Any advice appreciated.
Thank you!

Hi Lynda,
I use glidewalking for pushing someone in a wheelchair. I have found that setting the brakes on a wheelchair is a perfect time to practice my hiphinging.
The wheelchair handles are at the right height for me, but if they are too low for you to grab easily, using a small hip hinge could help you reach them comfortably. You could try folding slightly at the hips along with bending your knees a bit more than usual when you land on your front foot. Be sure to set yourself up well in standing, including using your inner corset, before starting to push or hiphinge.
Please experiment with these ideas, and if you are still having difficulties, consider having a friend make a video of you on a smartphone so that you can share it during a live chat and we can troubleshoot further.
