I gave my couch a way a few months ago because I always had bad posture either when I sat on it or laid down on it. I'm working on furnishing my living room with chairs that help me sit with good posture. I sat in this one in a waiting room recently and liked it. Would someone please let me know how it qualifies by Gokhale. I know the arms are a negative, but other than that.

Hi Becky--
As a Gokhale Method teacher, I'd give that chair a 6 on a scale of 1-10. It's definitely better than many, but not ideal.
What's good about it:
1: the seat doesn't bucket in--in fact it will allow your legs to externally rotate.
2: there is room in the back for you behind to get behind you.
The main negative I see is that the back wraps around, which is going to force your shoulders forward. Adding a stretchsit cushion could help that, maybe with a little padding behind it to move your shoulders away from the chair.
The armrests could also force your shoulders to your ears.
