Problems with knee patellar ligaments

Hello,

Since I begun practising the tallstanding exercise I have experienced strain and even pain in the knee patellar ligaments. They seem to stay engaged all the time while tallstanding due to my not keeping the knees locked as before. One of the knees even gets a bit swollen in the upper front area when I tallstand (even after just a few minutes of standing), and the swell disappears the next day after rest. No problems with swelling when glidewalking (well, at least my current version of it!).

I might be keeping the knees flexed too much, so maybe that's what's causing the ligaments to be engaged all the time?

I consider myself to be pretty much in shape, I use the stairs all day long, doing strenghtraining.

Thank you so much for your help!

Mihnea

For Tallstanding you want to be sure that your alignment is good, starting with the feet since this will feed into the knees. We want to knees to be "soft". So when getting the 3 things in the lower body by doing a little squat the knees should be straightened short of locking. This results in the leg being straight but the patella is not drawn up by the quadriceps. It sounds to me like your instinct of over flexing is correct.

Hope this helps.
