Hello,
I have the book "8 Steps to a Pain-Free Back" hoping it might be able to help some chronic back pain that I have had over the last 9 months.
I am in my mid-30s. I have a what is believed to be a functional scoliosis in my lumbar spine (a levoscoliosis) where my left hip looks higher than my right hip. I have had this condition known for at least 10 years, with no real pain up until the last 9 months. Now I have chronic pain on my right side (back, hip, leg, buttocks). I am convinced I do have muscle imbalances in conjunction with this skeletal imbalance of scoliosis. I do have a mild disc bulge at L4/L5 and some (mild some say) facet disease at L5/S1. I also have some mild hip arthritis too. Most doctors say all this is "normal" for many people at my age who experience no pain.
Are the 8 steps in the book geared towards people with scoliosis? In other words can I perform the steps as instructed in the book with the hopes of reducing my pain and maybe also in "straightening" my spine a bit back to a more natural position (icing on the cake)? Or do I have to modify the steps in any way? Note: I am in physical shape to do these exercises; nothing is holding me back in attempting them.
Thank you very much!

I recommend you follow the entire program - it's all good and you have extra reason to do it all. The usual order is what I recommend for you. And I would be surprised if you don't get substantial benefit. Keep us posted!

I did have one question regarding the 1st step (StretchSitting) and the chair used to do it. I posted it in the appropriate forum, if you or anyone has a response to it.
