Posture pictures: Bending...like mother like daughter

This was my bending posture before Esther (BE).  I just thought it was interesting to see now how very similar my posture is to my mother in this photo.

I can see now the very tucked pelvis and curved upper back.  This has been one of the easiest areas of my posture to correct.  It feels so much better to keep my back straight and get a hamstring stretch every time I bend over.

One thing I noticed was that I had to stand further away from the sink counter to give myself room to keep my back straight and my face over the sink for washing my face or brushing teeth.  At first I was getting a slight strain in my lower back because I over corrected and was arching my lower back.  It really does take reaching your hand around to touch your spine to tell if you are straight (ie. even groove along the spine).

I don't do a whole lot of bending or lifting but I have noticed when I spend a day gardening my legs get sore (from muscle building) but not my back (from strain) anymore!

Thanks Esther!

Hooray! Super cool picture. It's such a striking example of how we mimic those around us, especially those close to us. How about posting a picture of you bending now? I have it in my mind from when you learned that lesson a month ago, but I'd love for others to see. i had no idea you curved that much in your bending before the course - perhaps I need to take before photos of people bending as well as the other poses we take...

Thanks so much for sharing this.
