The blog has been cleaned up. I would like to send a communication to the teachers tonight. So I'm testing this "new journal" (somewhat confusing terminology methinks.)
So "submitted by Esther" still heads the entry. I thought we had gotten rid of that but maybe that is the case only in the comments and replies. I think is needs to be everywhere...
Hmmm, the post and comments still start with "Submitted by." I do see that what ends up in my mailbox is clean and appealing. Can the actual post be cleaned up similarly? Is that a complicated proposition requiring going in to the code, etc.?
no we didn't sort that though I have now removed it for the initial post - but the comments is managed via the theme - see a follow up comment on suggestions for how we can improve the look of the comments
I am curious where this later comment will appear. Though I like the website showing all the comments in chronollgical order, I would like the previous comments to appear in reverse chronological order fed into the email notification. Wonder if that is possible.
It's in reverse chronolgical order on the website - don't like that. Especially since the replies (logically) appear in chronological order. Can we have both in chronolocigal order on the website listing and in reverse chronological order fed int the email notification (obviating the need for people to go to the website unless they want to post)? Peter?
This needs to be done in the theme - are you happy for us to work on an approach as per the Comments section on http://www.marksdailyapple.com/weekend-link-love-162/#more-24515
ie put some background color behind each separate comment
insert the image of the commenter,
downplay the 'who submitted/when" and maybe align right
Yes, I think all of the above would be good. Pity the theme cannot come through in the email notifications. A tweak I would like to see in the email notifications is to have the Read / Comment online immediately follow the comment as it did previously. Then have the two dashes line. Then have the "This comment is in reply to..." reference matter. Can this reference matter be indented to separate it from the main comment? That would reduce the desirability of having html in the notification.
When I edited the above post, i see that an additional notification did not get sent out. What is the desirability of having a corrected notification go out? Too much? Desirable for accuracy? Not possible for technical reasons? There is a check box to not send out notifications for this update, so if it was a trivial edit, the author has the choice not to have the notification sent, which lends towards having the edits trigger notification. Peter, your call on this.

It would also be nice if the separate comments were better segregated from each other. Right now they run into each other too much visually.

I don't believe that 'updated
I don't believe that 'updated comments' is an option in terms of OG Notifications.
The checkbox to 'skip notifications' is a Permission and is not currently set for all users.
