Meet Barbara
Barbara developed a very kyphotic posture during her long career as a veterinarian. The stooping posture she adopted for surgery caused her upper back pain, and she also has scoliosis. These two anatomical issues caused her chronic upper back and neck pain.
Barbara spent many years searching for solutions. These ranged from various bodywork modalities, through yoga, pilates and myofascial release. When she came upon the teachings of the Gokhale Method, she was struggling with an additional lower back injury. She experienced an “aha” moment on joining an online class and learning more.
Having developed an understanding of the root cause of her back problems, she was able to address the cause, rather than the symptoms. As a Gokhale Method teacher she enjoys empowering her students as they also discover their path to a pain-free life.
Barbara is a keen gardener, growing fruit trees and companion planting with wild flowers. She continues part-time work as a veterinarian (now with more body awareness) and also runs classes on caring for chickens in an urban setting.

Learn in a small group or one-on-one with personalized hands-on help from an expert in the Gokhale Method.
If you’re looking to learn the Gokhale Method in-person, our 6-lesson Foundations course is designed for beginners and can change your posture habits efficiently and profoundly. Taught by a qualified Gokhale Method teacher, it covers all the techniques described in Esther Gokhale’s book, 8 Steps to a Pain-Free Back, and more.
Students receive personalized hands-on instruction, visual cues, and verbal explanations. All our teachers are experts in giving immediate feedback and gentle guidance to ensure you master the techniques correctly.
Learn one-on-one (6x45 minutes) to suit your schedule. Or choose an intensive or weekly small group class (6x90 minutes, capped at 8). Either way, you will receive individualized attention, learn deeply, leading to a life-changing transformation.
