Using gokhale head cusion or not?

Hi all

I did an MRI a couple of months ago and this is the result:

-Mild/Early disc degeneration at C3-C4 and C4-C5.

-Loss of normal cervical lordosis with straightening of the spine (Straightening of cervical curvature)

I'm 33 years old and a Phd student at software enginering filed.

I have the following questions and I will appricate for your answers and advices in advance:

-Based on my neck condition do you advise me to use gokhale head cusion?

-Could you please mention the all benefits of using gokhale head cusion?

Thanks.

Hi Sina,

Using the head cushion would be a great practice for you. It strengthens the deeper neck muscles, reminds and encourages you to lengthen your neck up again the weight of the cushion, and reinforces you to keep your head back and over your body rather that sticking it forward.

I advise you to begin by using it for just 30 seconds at a time, as your neck hasn't built up the strength to carry weight yet. After a few days, you can start using it for a minute a time. As your neck strengthens and you feel more confident and comfortable with the weight on your head, you can start using it for longer stretches.

Esther recently wrote a blog post on benefits of carrying things on your head: https://gokhalemethod.com/blog/66366

Best,
Monisha
