Little Toe and Feet Go Numb Stretch Sitting
Hi,

I am trying to perfect Stretch Sitting, When I do one of two things happen.

1) I either Sit for a while comfortably, then when I get up my Little Toes and side of my feet go numb

or

2) My Tail bone hurts so much when I stand up

If its a Tight Psoas should I be stretching it, or will that just make it stronger? I suspect it is Psoas related to my Disc Injury as I have a big Curve in my lower back.

Thanks

- Paul

HI Paul,

If you are not used to sitting on your Sitz bones, then it may be more comfortable to put a pillow or pad down on your seat pan until you body gets used to this pressure.  This is very common in many of our students.

When sitting, make sure that your feet and knees are slightly turned out-this can help with circulation to the legs and feet.

A tight psoas can definitely contribute to a sway.  The good news is that it is usually not pulled as taut when sitting as when standing.  Gently stretching the psoas is not a bad idea.  If it is quite tight, I emphasize the word gentle.

If you can, I would suggest finding a course nearby to help you with Glidewalking which is a great way to lengthen an overly tight psoas muscle.

Good luck!

Warmly,
