Healthy Neck stretch with a broom stick

In a previous workshop, I think Esther (or Mia?) described using a broom stick (or something similar) to help stretch the neck while lying down on your back.  It seemed like a better (cheaper) alternative to traction.  But I can't remember the details.  Can you elaborate on it here?

Thanks!

Hi Jo,

Yes, you can stretchlie down onto your back and have a broomstick perpendicular to your body, above your head.  From here, roll the broomstick under your head, (holding  the stick with your hands on either side of your head).  From here, you can gently position the stick at the base of the skull and push the broomstick upward toward the crown of the head, thus lengthening your spine and getting some gentle neck traction.

I hope this seems clear!  I find this to be an excellent way to stretch my neck and it can feel really nice at the end of the day.

Hi Charlene,

Do you have any videos or pictures where I can find the exact technique? I have a lot of neck/jaw pain and I think it could help a lot to have some gentle traction in the morning and the evening!

Kind Regards,

Björn

It is possible for you to stretch out on your back while holding a broomstick in a position that is perpendicular to your body and above your head. Roll the broomstick beneath your head from this vantage point (holding the stick with your hands on either side of your head). You may stretch your spine and obtain some light neck traction by carefully positioning the stick at the base of the skull and then pushing the broomstick upward toward the top of the head. This will give you some gentle neck traction.

I really hope that you understand! I find that this is a fantastic method to extend my neck, and that doing so at the end of the day may feel very lovely and relaxing.
