STATIONARY INDOOR CYCLING
Dear Esther, I have an indoor stationary bike and would like to know how to cycle correctly. How should my posture be and how should I use my leg muscles during the rotation of the pedals. What muscles do I use when my leg is straight at the bottom of the cylce and what muscles do I use at the top of the cycle. Thanks

The main guidelines are to antevert your pelvis well and track your legs well. You should be using your quads, hamstrings, glutes, calves, various foot muscles - the usual suspects...

Thanks for the response. However, what do you mean by making sure my legs track well. Also, you mentioned all the muscles that are used but how and when do I use them. What sort of posture do I maintain.

Tracking well means you don't want your knees to rotate internally for example. In general your feet and knees should point the same way. Regarding the details you ask about, it sounds like you are ready for another book on this subject. In the meantime, it may make sense for you to do a Skype consultation or come in if you are close enough.
