Laura Winholt has lived her passion as a student and teacher of healthy living practices throughout her life. Constantly exploring new avenues to improve her health, Laura discovered the Gokhale Method when she developed discomfort in her lower back, hips, and legs while backpacking sections of the Appalachian Trail. While learning these new posture habits, Laura noticed no discomfort — not only when hiking, but also in her daily life. Laura has plenty of opportunities to put the Gokhale Method into action — whether it’s leading a yoga class as a certified instructor, working long hours as a recovery room RN with 31 years of experience, or maintaining a half-acre sanctuary for over 70 homeless cats. Laura and her husband relocated to the tranquil Daufuskie Island in 2005 from her hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio. In 2015, Laura was recognized with the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses, highlighting a lifetime of commitment to caring for others. Laura remains dedicated to making a positive impact by helping others achieve their wellness goals.
