C5/C7 protruded disc in neck
Hello Esther,

I bought your wonderfully written book.  I have recently had a flare up of pain in the right side - neck, shoulder, upper back, right arm and occasional tingling in right fingers.  This is a repeat of what I had to deal with in 1996/97 which resolved in 4-5 months. MRI shows C6/C7 moderate to severe protrusion pinching the nerve root and C5/C6 mild protrusion towards spinal cord on left side with no effect.

I would like to resolve this pain and do what is possible to avoid further painful situations.  Can you please recommend specific exercises from the book or modifications to your exercises from the book to treat this condition?  Thank you!

Just follow the book with the help of a professional body worker / health professional. And make your changes gradually. Avoid anything that distorts your neck or causes an exacerbation of symptoms. I personally like acupuncture as an adjunct therapy to keep all the muscles relaxed.

Dear Esther,

I am trying the book exercises. It helps very temporarily for any back pains I have. However, my inability to do a sidebend to the right without excruciating pain, inability to sleep on right without pain in triceps and shoulder joint, or on the left without pain in the right forearm is not going away at all. Interestingly, I feel pinching (almost due to tightening) in mid-back between the spine and shoulder blade.

Just looking at my posture for a while now, I know I have a hyper lordosis in lower back and my tummy juts way out. By the way, if it is any value, my MRI showed a Klippel-Feil anomaly(partial fused vertibrae at C7-T1) and fused facet joints also at C7-T1 on right side.  The pain started on Dec 31st as if I had a sprained stiff neckand for last 6 weeks has been bothering me very badly.

Any suggestions?  I appreciate you taking time to answer this question.

Regards.

It wouldn't be responsible for me to advise you on your situation over this forum. This really needs close personal attention. Wsh i could be more helpful. You might try calling the office to locate a health professional in your area who has some experience with my Method.
